The Hoffice
Just in time for the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff, I decided to take a trip down memory lane to revisit one of the very first office pranks that I was
allegedlyinvolved with: The Hoffice! The fun all started when a member of our softball team had the audacity to take a vacation during the middle of the season, and I explained her absence in a team email by stating that she had left for Europe to become a roadie for David Hasselhoff’s "Don’t Hassle The Hoff" music tour. Unbelievably, a member of the team actually thought that this explanation was legitimate, which kick-started years of Hoff-related jokes around the ol’ office. -
PowerSource surpasses 100,000 users
Over the last few years, one of my main projects at work has been a little website called PowerSource. Dedicated to supporting Pearson products including PowerSchool®, Chancery SMS®, PowerTeacher™, and more, PowerSource has registered users from all 50 states and over 50 countries that regularly access the site to improve their use of Pearson’s market leading educational technology solutions. In less than two years after it’s launch, PowerSource surpassed the 100,000 user mark, and currently has over 108,000 registered users.

Display your latest tweet on a Wordpress blog
Since Facebook has basically made it impossible to get the RSS feed for a user’s status updates, I have decided to switch the mechanism for status updates on SamSpencer.com to Twitter. This article is just a quick explanation of how to display your latest tweets on a WordPress blog without any plugins. This will be accomplished by using a RSS feed that Twitter provides, and consuming that feed with the RSS Widget that is provided with WordPress.

Cageside at UFC 73: Stacked
Back on July 7th, 2007 I attended my second UFC event at Sacramento’s Arco Arena, the aptly named UFC 73: Stacked. The UFC really did stack this card, as it featured two championship bouts with Anderson "The Spider" Silva defending his Middleweight Championship against Nate "The Great" Marquardt, and Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk making his first Lightweight Title defense against Hermes Franca. UFC 73 also featured a clash between future and former UFC Light Heavyweight champions when "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy" Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans squared off, and future Heavyweight champ Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira also made his UFC debut. With such an amazing fight card, and after our previous
misadventures attending UFC 65, my friends and I were determined not to go "small ball" for UFC 73. -
Well, You Don’t See That Every Day!
There are a lot of nice things about living where I do. I have a very short commute to work… I live really close to my best friends… I am within walking distance to a golf course… I have a great view from my home office thanks to the green belt behind my house… the list goes on. One of the not so nice things? Well, for a few days every year I might be woken up by a F-22 Raptor or a B-2 Stealth Bomber flying a few hundred feet directly above my house. As you can probably imagine, being awoken by the deadliest aircraft in the world is not the greatest way to start your morning, especially after a late night out. Oh well, I guess I can’t complain about having free front row tickets to the California Capitol Airshow. Pictures after the jump!
